Abstract

The CEPID CEPOF is an international center for research, innovation and dissemination based at USP and financed by FAPESP. The CEPOF Scientific Diffusion team has been working in the Diffusion of Sciences area for over two decades. The proponent of this project has been the coordinator of Scientific Dissemination at CEPOF for 15 years. In this proposal, she will act decisively to optimize the scientific dissemination of CEPOF on social networks. In addition, it will proceed with the Dissemination of Sciences with schools in São Carlos and region, as described below: 1. SCIENTIFIC JOURNALISM ACTIVITIES: Research on various scientific topics of interest to society will be disseminated through publication in a language intelligible by the general population, on social media platforms (Instagram®, Facebook®, Twitter® and Youtube®, Newspapers Digital and by TV Canal 20, managed by CEPOF). 2 - SCIENCE CLUBS - Training of teachers and students: Science Clubs will be created and monitored in Public Schools. The Clubs will be guided by the proponent of this project for the development of experiments to be presented at the USP 2022 Science and Technology Fair, whose theme will be "Science, Technology and Innovations for the Planet". During 2018, 2019 and 2020, the proponent of this project was awarded by the City Council of São Carlos, with the Science and Technology Award - Science Clubs Category, due to the important work carried out annually with the Science Clubs. 3 - DIGITAL INCLUSION: ELECTIVE CLASSES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Classes will be taught in schools on the Arduino Computing Environment, used for automation of electronic and/or robotic projects. During classes, students will form groups and will have Arduino boards and a series of sensors at their disposal. For each environmental parameter studied, an Arduino sensor will be connected to a device that will automatically perform an action (eg 1. Temperature increase triggers fans; 2. Human presence triggers an alarm or lights up, etc.). 4 - LIGHT AND COLORS MINI-COURSE: Mini-courses will be held with the educational kits Colors and Sensations, developed and donated by CEPOF. The short course will initially deal with themes such as atoms, cells, human body systems, sense organs (vision: how we see colors). In the following lessons, students will be able to add and subtract colors in an interactive and attractive way. 5 - PEDAGOGICAL PROJECT ORGANIZATION IN MUNICIPIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS: At the request of the Municipal Education Department, in this Pandemic situation by COVID-19, we will assist the school in teaching classes, through Distance Learning and the use of the Google Classroom tool and others. Furthermore we will help the school with the procedures for returning to in person classes. 6 - SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMS FOR TV/INTERNET: Educational videos and interview programs will be developed on different topics of science. 7 - ORGANIZATION OF SCHOOL VISITS TO THE SCIENCE MUSEUM OF SÃO CARLOS, PROF. MARIO TOLENTINO, TO THE "LIFE: FROM THE VISIBLE TO THE INVISIBLE" EXHIBITION: The Exhibit, containing interactive panels and anatomical pieces was created by CEPOF in the first half of 2021. In order to assist teachers who will lead school students, the proponent of this project will prepare explanatory videos about each block of the Exhibition, as she was the author of the scientific content of the exhibition, related to the biological and health area. 8 - VISITS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH THE "VIDA" EXHIBITION: In addition to the exhibition at the museum, the Exhibition will be taken to public schools. Students from the schools themselves will be trained as monitors by the proponent of this project, so that they can explain the content of the exhibition. Thus, students will be able to observe the anatomical parts, as well as histological slides under the microscope. All actions listed here are feasible within the 6-month period required by FAPESP, similar to what we develop for years. (AU)
