Abstract

One of the main challenges in the development of supercapacitors (SCs) is the construction of flexible devices with high energy density. One of the ways to obtain greater energy densities is by applying materials to the electrode that causes the device to have high capacitance and wide potential window. Therefore, the objective of this research is the application of new materials, developed at the New Materials and Devices Laboratory (LNMD) and by its collaborators, as electrodes in flexible supercapacitors, targeting devices with high energy density. Some of the materials that will be studied will be melanin, melanin blends with conductive polymers, multiwalled carbon nanotubes and Mesoporous Niobium Pentoxide (Nb2O5). The devices prepared in the configuration planar and sandwich, and with symmetrical and asymmetric electrodes. The deposited materials will be morphologically characterized by confocal microscopy and electron microscopy of scan. The devices will be characterized electrically through voltammetry measurements cyclic, galvanostatic charge-discharge and impedance spectroscopy. Capacitance values, energy density, power density and series resistance will be chosen for the devices, in order to compare with results obtained in the literature and improve their performance.
