Abstract

This PhD project proposes research activities in Relativistic Nuclear Physics within the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) Collaboration, one of the four large experiments of the CERN (Center Européenne pour la Recherches Nucléaires) LHC (Large Hadron Collider). The main objective of this experiment is the investigation of nuclear matter under extreme conditions of temperature and energy density. The contribution of this work to this area of investigation is the study of the production and dynamics of the so-calledhard probes (jets, heavy quarks and high-energy photons), but mainly their interaction with the extreme conditions medium formedin Pb + Pb collisions atsNN= 5.5 TeV. The characteristics of the ALICE experiment allow the study of the production and dynamics of these observables at low transverse momentum, which makes the ALICE experiment unique among other LHC experiments that investigate heavy ion collisions. This work will be carried out based on the analysis of data from collision events already recorded in previous runs as well as the ones to be produced in the next LHCR un starting in 2022. (AU)
