Abstract

Endodontics searches to find materials that, in addition to biocompatibility, actively participate in tissue formation, inducing or modulating the repair process. Previous studies of our research group verified excellent biological properties using an experimental vitro-ceramic material (F18) with strong potential to be used as a restorative material in different clinical conditions. Moreover, recent studies have shown that this material presents excellent characteristics considering induction of tissues such as angiogenic ones, bone and collagen. Thus, this study aims to evaluate an experimental material based on f18 ceramic bioglass doped with cobalt as a sealing material in furca perforation and as a capping material in pulp exposure procedures. Sixity rats, divided into 2 experiments of 30 animals (10 animals per group in each experiment): Control Group - Guta percha (GP), MTA Group (MTA), Group F18+Co (F18+Co). The materials will be tested in critical clinical conditions of contamination of inflammation. Experiment 1: dental wear of 0.5mm depth and 0.5x1mm extension will be performed on the occlusal surface of the 1st. and 2nd. molars for induction of pulp inflammation. After 24 hours, pulp exhibitions will be held and one of the materials will be used as a capping material. Experiment 2: furca perforations will be made in the 1st. and 2nd. molars, remaining exposed into the oral cavity for 7 days for the contamination. After this period, one of the materials will be used in each tooth for sealing the perforation. In both experiments the teeth will be sealed with glass ionomers. After 7 and 30 days the animals will be sacrificed and the maxilla processed for histomorphometry analysis. Inflammation will be evaluated in tissue sections that are denoted in H.E.; mature and immature collagen will be quantified after polarization in cuts with picrosirius red; and biomineralization will be evaluated by the evaluation of osteopontin and osteocalcin. The statistic will be performed according to each type of analysis and the significance level of 5% (p <0.05) will be considered.
