Abstract

Among the areas of dentistry, endodontics is responsible for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pulpal and periapical conditions. The bioglass F18 is a biocompatible material that induces the deposition of collagen, bone and angiogenic tissue; in addition it is has antimicrobial activity, which givies it the potential to be used as a repair agent in different clinical conditions. The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential of an experimental material based on bioglass F18 as a sealing material in cases of pulp capping, through the analysis of biocompatibility and biomineralization, using H&E staining and immunohistochesmistry for osteocalcin (OCN). Thirty animals (n=10) will be used, divided into groups: Control - Gutta percha (GP), MTA Angelus (MTA) and F18. Pulp exposures will be carried out in the central region of the crowns of the 1st and 2 nd upper right molars. Then, one of the materials will be used randomly for pulp capping and the teeth will be sealed with glass ionomer and flow resin. After a period of 7 and 30 days, the animals will be euthanized, and the maxilas removed and processed for histological and imuhistochemical analysis. Inflammation will be assessed in tissue sections stained with H&E. and the biomineralization potential will be analyzed by the immunostaining for osteocalcin. The data will be submitted and evaluated by specific statistical tests, considering a significance level of 5% (p <0.05).
