Abstract

Estrogen deficiency during the climacteric period is associated with an increased prevalence of problems such as vaginal dryness, urinary incontinence and other comorbidities that can affect sexual function. At this time of pandemic, there may be an even greater aggravation of sexual problems and various aspects of health. Objective: To assess the prevalence of Genitourinary Menopause Syndrome and its association with sexual dysfunction and worsening caused by the pandemic. Subjects and methods: This CI study is part of a larger study approved by FAPESP that will assess various aspects of the sexuality and health of climacteric women. A cross-sectional study will be carried out with 282 women, aged 50 to 70 years old. The women will be selected through the "snowball" technique, which will be formed from the "egos" couples initially identified by women who attend the Ambulatory of Menopause and the Campus of the State University of Campinas. They will answer the interview about sociodemographic, general and sexual health issues that will be done via internet telephony by interviewers trained for the project. The IC student will participate in training, interview collection and meetings for discussion and writing of results. Data processing and analysis: In the bivariate analysis, the variables will be analyzed using the chi-square test and the Student T test or Mann-Whitney test. The prevalence ratio and respective 95% CI will be calculated for each of the conditions observed. Subsequently, the Poisson multiple regression analysis will be performed. It is expected to obtain data on the prevalence and aspects of GUS in our population that will contribute to greater knowledge of these climacteric symptoms, the sexuality of this group, associated factors and influence caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
