Abstract

Electric Power Systems (EPS) are highly complex at different levels, considering their size, operating conditions, and stability. Usually, these systems are supplied by synchronous generators that help in the frequency stability of the power system. However, the insertion of renewable energy sources, more specifically wind generators, in the system causes a decrease in the equivalent inertia of the system, which can lead to instability in the system. Thus, it is of extreme interest to be aware of the portion of generators that can help with frequency stability. This work aims to reliably and robustly identify the constant inertia (H) and Inertial Frequency Response (IFR) parameters, with minimal network knowledge beyond that provided by synchrophasor behaviors. The method analysis and validation of each stage, and all simulations, will be done in Matlab. (AU)
