Abstract The FAPESP Research Program on Biodiversity Characterization,Conservation, Restoration and Sustainable Use (BIOTA-FAPESP) is one of the largestresearch programs related to biodiversity conservation in Brazil. Considering theextensive research and its wide database, the thematic project "BIOTA-FAPESPProgram in basic education: possibilities for curricular integration (2018-2023)"proposes actions directed to the use and dissemination of data generated by thisprogram. Therefore, researchers from the thematic project are designing teaching andlearning materials which will be available in a freely accessible website to students andteachers from all over Brazil, allowing the interaction between them and the subjectsaddressed. These materials require supplements with research contexts about local biota, probably from the SINBIOTA database. Complementing the aims already achieved, questionnaires about knowledge and interests in biodiversity of students aged 14 to 16have been developed. These researches represent a baseline to guide the didacticpotential of academic production under the BIOTA-FAPESP Program. The scientificinitiation student will develop research in several fronts of the thematic project: survey(quantitative and qualitative) about knowledge and interests in biodiversity of studentsaged 14 to 16; collaboration in the development of teaching and learning materials usingthe SINBIOTA database; and dissemination, application and evaluation of the materialsdeveloped and available on the BIOTA-FAPESP Educação website in basic educationschools in its geographic region. | |
