Abstract

This project for a research internship at KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm is part of our PhD research in FAUUSP's Architectural History area about the trajectory and work of the Swedish architect and engineer Carlos Ekman (1866-1940) in São Paulo. Its main goal is to develop locally studies about Ekman's background in Sweden: his architectural education as an extra student at the Architecture and Ornamentation course from KTH University from 1884 until 1886, his family references, and his early professional experiences. Based on primary sources, that will be gathered from public Swedish archives, interviews with specialists, and bibliographical references, the research will explore Ekman's original environment with special regard to his professional qualification process and cultural references.
