Abstract With the recent experimental measurement of g 2 of the muon at Fermilab, this observable shows now a tension at a level of 4.2 standard deviations with respect to the standard model predictions. In the present research project, the student will reproduce the leading order QED correction to g 2, a classic result due to Schwinger. Once this task is completed, the student should understand the limitations of the large number of flavors and the techniques associated with it. The final task is to compute the QED corrections to g 2 in the limit of a large number of flavors and estimate yet unknown higher-order QED corrections.(AU) | |
