Abstract

This proposal aims to select a candidate for a 12-month research grant, postdoctoral level, to develop the project entitled: Perception of Effort (OMNI) for children and adolescents with chronic neurological diseases - validation of the adapted version of the scale to children and teenagers using wheelchairs. This study is linked to the Thematic Project AEROBIC CAPACITY, MUSCLE STRENGTH AND POTENCY OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH CHRONIC DISEASES - CHARACTERIZATION AND TREATMENT, which receives support from FAPESP (São Paulo State Research Support Foundation) through process 2019 / 17596- 7 The objective of the study is to carry out a validation of the adapted OMNI scale, since an original scale is presented through illustrations that do not include the figure of the wheelchair user. Thus, the grantee, over the 12 months of the grant, must collect data from children and adolescents with neuromuscular diseases (neuropathies and myopathies) using a wheelchair (FMS 1 in 500 meters) and validate an adapted scale comparing the responses of Effort assessment with variables assigned to ergospirometric tests of maximum effort (CEPT) developed with upper limbs.
