Abstract

The aim of this proposal is to select a candidate for a post-doctoral research grant (duration of approximately 09 months) to develop the project entitled: Maximum effort cardiopulmonary assessment protocol using upper limbs in typical children and adolescents with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease: intra and inter-examiner reliability study. This study is linked to the Thematic Project AEROBIC CAPACITY, STRENGTH AND MUSCLE POWER OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH CHRONIC DISEASES - CHARACTERISATION AND TREATMENT, which receives funding from FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) under process 2019/17596-7. The aim of the study is to finalise subprojects 3.1.1 by performing a test and retest on typical children and adolescents (test: increase sample from 80 to 125; retest: collect data from 45) and 3.1.1 by performing a test and retest on children and adolescents with CMT (increase sample from 4 to 10; collect new 6 patients). In this way we will have results to establish predictive equations for VO2peak in typical children and characterise the performance of cardiopulmonary parameters in children with CMT, as well as verifying the accuracy of the measurements (reproducibility of measurements) from the maximal effort cardiopulmonary assessment protocol using upper limbs in the two populations studied.
