Abstract Enjoying great stability over decades, the relations of the three major dinosaur groups (Ornithischia, Sauropodomorpha and Theropoda) were the target of recent challenging, opening the way for the proposition of newhypotheses of ralationships. Such a scenario supports the need to implement a research project that specifically targets on formulating a new and robust hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships for the main dinosaur lineages, including both the review of previous studies and the survey of new anatomical data that can support a better understanding of the subject. In addition to the traditional analyzes based on parsimony, it is proposed here to complement the phylogenetic investigations using Bayesian inference and time-calibrated taxa over geological time, in order to investigate phenotypic and biogeographic aspects of the dinosaur evolutionary radiation. | |
