Lime and silicate in a soybean and corn intercropped system in a long-term experiment

Abstract

The no-till system (NTS) was one of the great advances in Brazilian agriculture. As in the conventional system, the NTS also needs to be managed, with the application of inputs, such as fertilizers and soil acidity amendments. The objective of this work will be to evaluate the influence of the surface application of soil acidity amendments (lime and silicate) in a soybean-corn succession system intercropped with brachiaria. This proposal will continue the long-term research project, which started in 2006, with funding from FAPESP since its implementation (Processos Fapesp: 2006/01705-4, 2009/05066-4, 2011/10566-6, 2013 /18594-4 and 2020/05997-7) and registered in the Global Network of Long-Term Agricultural Experiments, organized by Rothamsted Research, United Kingdom. The experiment has a randomized block design, with four replications, with treatments consisting of two soil acidity amendments (I - Lime; II - Ca and Mg silicate) and the addition of a control (III - no amendments). During the harvest, all treatments will consist of the soybean crop (2021/2022), and corn (2022) during the off-season. Gas exchange will be evaluated through analyzes of soybean and corn leaves using the Infra-Red Gas Analyzer - IRGA; the nutritional status of plants; and quantify the components of production and grain yield.(AU)
