Abstract

The advent of new digital technologies has made the dental surgeon's clinical practice faster, more accurate, and cheaper in the long run. The occurrence of this phenomenon’s due to the emergence of 3D printing techniques, which have become revolutionary means of making prostheses and interocclusal plates, which favor the patient's treatment with fewer consultations. However, conventional methods are still the gold standard, since printing techniques are moving towards their diffusion in the world and little is known exactly about the mechanical, physical, chemical, and microbiological behavior of the new 3D acrylic resins. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the microhardness, flexural strength, surface roughness, and microbial adhesion of these new specific resins for 3D printing and compare them with the gold standard in making interocclusal devices: the thermopolymerizable acrylic resin. For this,10 rectangular specimens will be manufactured according to ISO 20795-1:2013 for flexural strength tests and 10 circular specimens (ISO 6872) for the evaluation of microhardness, surface roughness, and microbial adhesion by C. albicans. The data will be compared with each other using descriptive statistics and 1-way ANOVA with Bonferroni corrections (± = 0.05).(AU)
