Abstract

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing or rapid prototyping, has been gaining a lot of space in Dentistry for its predictability and assertiveness in dental treatments in several areas, including restorative, despite the challenge in reconciling such technologies with appropriate materials. The titanium oxide nanotubes have been incorporated into resin materials and their photocatalytic activity has resulted in considerable improvement in some properties. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the physical-mechanical properties of a temporary restorative resin and a definitive resin for 3D printing modified by adding different concentrations of TiO2 nanotubes. The present work presents two variation factors: type of resin for two-level 3D printing (Cosmos TEMP temporary resin - Yller Biomateriais, Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) and definitive resin (Prizma Bio Crown - Makertech, Tatuí, São Paulo, Brazil); and concentration of TiO2 nanotubes in three levels (without nanotubes, 1% and 5%). The response variables will be: flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, surface roughness and color stability before and after accelerated aging in 60º distilled water. For this experiment, circular specimens with 10 mm in diameter and 2 mm thickness will be printed with both resins, modified or not with the different concentration of nanotubes, for surface roughness and color stability tests. For the bending resistance test, rectangular bars will be printed in the dimensions of 2 x 2 x 25 mm. The results will be analyzed using the two-way ANOVA test and Tukey's test for multiple comparisons, adopting a significance level of 5%.
