Abstract

The main objective of this project is to generate and detect standing wave patterns using surface acoustic waves (SAWs). In order to achieve this goal, the student will develop a software interface using Laview to control and synchronize two radio frequency generators. The generators will be connected to the two different interdigital transducers (IDTs) of a SAW delay line to generate the standing wave patterns. The generation of the patterns will be verified using an oscilloscope and radio frequency measurements. The experiments will be performed on LiNbO3 substrates with transition metal chalcogenide monolayer samples. The idea is to investigate the effect of the standing wave pattern in the room temperature photoluminescence of these nanostructures. (AU)
