Abstract

States involving multiple modes that are entangled in the continuous variable domain have applications in metrology and quantum information processing. The current project suggests the use of parametric amplification, generated from a four wave mixing process in atomic vapor, as a source of networks of entangled states. Four wave mixing process in vapor cells proved to be a robust source of non-classical states of light. Recent research have shown that multiple spatial modes of the field could be simultaneously entangled in those systems. Nevertheless, these modes are limited in the number of entangled parts due to restrictive phase matching conditions. Moreover, these multiple modes need to be addressed by individual measurement systems, what limits its practical use. In the present case, we will excite distinct longitudinal modes of the field by the coherent superposition of pump fields at distinct frequencies. The generation of multiple entangled fields on distinct frequencies, within the amplifier bandwidth, can be directly verified by specific techniques of sensitive homodyne measurements of multiple fields. Parametric amplification on these systems has been studies under a cooperation with Prof. Alberto Marino (U. Oklahoma). Entangled states in a network, aiming at the production of cluster states, is the subject of our collaboration with Prof. Olivier Pfister (U. Virginia). We have been discussing the analysis of multiple bands with homodyne and self-homodyne techniques with Prof. Avi Pe'er (U. Bar-Ilan). (AU)
