Abstract

This work aims to assess and map areas vulnerable to hydrological risks in the municipality of Rio Claro - RJ, with emphasis on mass movements, aiming to serve as a basis for the elaboration of public policies in the municipality, contributing to the ordering and reorganization of the territory , since the use of spatial representation techniques has generated many contributions to decision making and environmental management. Taking into account the risks and vulnerabilities of the action of water flows, in Brazil there was a great advance after the disaster that occurred in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, which led to the development of Law No. 12.608/2012, which establishes the need to identify and map these areas of risks and vulnerabilities. This work adopts a theoretical conception of systemic investigation of the landscape, which considers several factors, such as: nature, social and economic issues, which directly influence human relations with the natural environment. From this analysis, it is intended to obtain a synthesis cartography, which includes the various factors relevant to the study, in order to identify the areas with socio-environmental vulnerabilities to hydrological risks in the municipality of Rio Claro - RJ. And, for this, the synthesis map will consist of a graphic scenario that presents, in the two-dimensional representation, the vertical reading (taxonomic scales of the geographical phenomenon) and the horizontal reading (different geographical components that modify the environment in the landscape), with the perspective of contribute with measures for municipal public policies that aim at a greater balance of human actions in the environment, based on the discussion of the potential and vulnerabilities of the areas that will be analyzed and mapped.
