Abstract

In this research project, mathematical models adopted in drug-controlled release systems will be investigated. The numerical methods will beapplied to better understand the effectiveness of treatments associated with diseases that affect the retina and choroid. Based on recent work by supervisor and collaborators, including ophthalmologists, the fellow will usean already validated mathematical model, emphasizing new implementations of computational tools that will improve numerical comparisons with the results clinical (images from specialized devices). In addition, the fellow will begin the development of a new in-house code in order to allow the inclusion of different mathematical models that describe drug delivery systems in Ophthalmology. (AU)
