Abstract

Didactic resources that help develop undergraduates´ skills in natural sciences regarding the production of popular science texts (PST) and other related media are scarce in Brazil. In this perspective, this project aims to prepare and validate a textbook on Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) for undergraduate chemistry students from participatory research. Among the four stages of this methodology, three have already been completed in Brazil (institutional and methodological framework, preliminary and provisional study, and critical analysis of the problems considered as priorities by the population) and the last stage, called planning and implementing a plan of action, will be carried out with the collaboration of Dr. Bruce V. Lewenstein (Cornell University), in the USA from December 2022 to November 2023. This research will consist of textbook production, followed by improving and validating by using it in educational actions to verify if it meets the demands raised in the previous stage of critical analysis of the problems considered as priorities by the population.
