Abstract

This research project aims to evaluate the effect of redundancy of vertical and horizontal signaling on highways on drivers' behavior, considering their perception of risk and distractions and inattention that occur in the process. The analysis will be carried out on two sections of the BR 360 road towards the north. To do that will be considered the current road signaling and other scenarios on the same road. Additionally, the process will be conducted by experiments with volunteers in a driving simulator, which allows to built of virtual scenarios, together with an eye tracker system, that will indicate the most sighted places by the driver during the circuit, as well as reaction and gaze time. Any person licensed to drive for more than one year will be considered eligible to participate in the experiment. Once the sampling has been defined and the variables of interest obtained, the statistical analysis will be done. Descriptive and correlation analysis will be used to assess trends between the numbers of signs and the perception variables, such as pupil dilatation. Thus, it is plausible to establish relationships between the sign and their effective efficiency, considering the perception, risk assessment, and whether they interfere negatively with the driver's attention levels.(AU)
