Abstract The objective of the present study will be the achievement of an environmentally sustainable 3Y-TZP system, and to investigate the optical and mechanical performance of a multilayered system with recycled 3Y-TZP. Commercial zirconia powders (3Y-TZP, 4Y-PSZ, and 5Y-PSZ) will be acquired. 3Y-TZP for recycling process will be obtained from powders remainders in the vacuum system of CAD/CAM machines and blocks remainders. Disaggregation will be performed using a ball milling or a higher intensity orbital milling, as well as hydrothermal treatment. The dilatometry and particle size distribution of the powers will be characterized. Multilayered zirconia discs will be processed via successive uniaxial pressing, where the first layer will consist of commercial or recycled 3Y-TZPs. After sintering and polishing, half of the specimens will be aged and characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The density will be determined using Archimedes principle. Optical properties will be evaluated in a spectrophotometer using reflectance tests. The hardness will be calculated using Vickers indentation test. The hardness and elastic modulus gradient through layers by nanoindentation. The biaxial flexural strength test will be conducted to determine the probability of survival, Weibull modulus and characteristic strength. (AU) | |
