Abstract The Young Investigator Award phase 2 #2021/06730-7 aims to synthesize high-strength polycrystalline ceramics resistant to hydrothermal aging, and with adhesiveness for monolithic applications, in addition to develop a method for recycling zirconia, subsequently improved by glass infiltration for use in multi-layered systems. Glass infiltration in polycrystalline ceramics promotes better optical, mechanical and adhesive properties. In this manner, the present project is associated with the JP2 grant which will evaluate the microstructural and optical properties of recycled zirconia (3Y-TZP) with refined particle size (d5 ¼m) infiltrated with glass. The properties of experimental materials in relation to microstructure (particle size distribution, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy [n=3]) and optical properties (n=10) in relation to contrast ratio and translucency will be investigated. The data obtained will be subjected to exploratory analysis and application of appropriate statistical tests. In this project, we will present pilot data that corroborate the feasibility of the proposal. | |
