Abstract

This study aims to evaluate patients' knowledge about the use of artificial intelligence in oral radiology. A total of 384 patients treated at the dental clinics of the School of Dentistry of Ribeirao Preto, University of São Paulo will participate in the study. A multiple choice questionnaire will be applied, with questions related to general knowledge about the use of artificial intelligence, confidence in the application of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of radiographic images, responsibility for diagnostic errors, availability and safety in the use of radiographic images for research in artificial intelligence. Data from the questionnaires will be tabulated in Excel spreadsheet. The results will be expressed in frequencies (absolute number and percentage). For data analysis, the Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests will be used, considering the significance level of 5%. This study is expected to verify the knowledge and concerns of patients about the use of artificial intelligence in radiographic diagnosis and the need for patient education for greater confidence in the implementation of this technology.
