Abstract

This study aims to analyze the distribution of infant deaths by Covid-19 in the state of São Paulo and the relationship with socioeconomic indicators. This is an ecological, retrospective, and analytical study. This study will be carried out in the state of São Paulo and data will be collected from the State Data Analysis System, available on the website of the Government of the State of São Paulo. For this study, data will be collected from February 2020 (referring to the date of the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in the state of São Paulo) to February 2022. In this study, the sociodemographic variables age and gender and epidemiological (confirmed case of Covid-19 in children (from 0 to 11 years 11 months and 29 days, as defined in the Child and Adolescent Statute) and outcome). For the analysis of socioeconomic variables (per capita income and schooling in the 14 administrative regions of the state of São Paulo), data will be collected on the website of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Initially, the data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics. Subsequently, the Odds Ratio (OD) of the variable per capita income and confirmed case of Covid-19 in a child will be calculated; and the same calculation will be performed with the education variable and deaths from Covid-19. Then, the chi-square test will be used to determine if there was a difference between the variables in the studied period. The significance level to accept the difference between the variables will be less than 0.05. To carry out this analysis, the R Program will be used. This research does not require approval by the Research Ethics Committee, since the data are available on publicly accessible websites.(AU)
