Abstract

The objective of this research project is to understand the discursive functioning in statements about the subject category and its constitution in the field of Environmental Education (EE), considering the language as a mediator in this process of production of meaning effects. We start from the consideration that the interaction between human beings and the environment dates back to the most remote times, from the establishment of relationships and practices that are crossed by different discourses and ideologies, whose origin lies in the appropriation and use of multiple nuances of language, the language game. The accumulation of experiences with environmental crimes that, historically, men in society has experienced in their particular way of relating to the environment, led them to question the adopted development processes. This context resulted in the growth of environmental concerns and, consequently, in the valorization of education as a formative process of a critical and conscientious citizen, configuring, from this, a terrain of dispute in which conservative, pragmatic and emancipatory discourses emerge in the scope of proposals for environmental education. To achieve the objective, we sought to understand the discursive mechanism used in thesis and dissertation statements about the subject, with theoretical-methodological support from Psychoanalysis by Jacques Lacan; the discursive materialist theory of discourse analysis, by Michel Pêcheux and collaborators, and researchers in the EE field. The documental corpus, focus of the analysis, will consist of theses and dissertations in EE, completed in Brazil and registered in the EArte project database, an inter-institutional project that develops research in line with the state of the art of academic research in EE.
