Abstract The main objective of this project is to make an introductory study of algebraic geometry, which is an area of mathematics that combines commutative algebra techniques with problems related to geometry. Specifically, we will study a class of algebraic varieties which are algebraic curves. We will present the main results of the theory and then, we will study about free divisors with a focus on providing criteria for the freedom of plane curves. (AU) | |
