Impacto da Artemisina e Rubus occidentalis (BRB) na função hepática e renal das camundongas em tratamento para leucoplasia oral

Abstract

Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) in the head and neck region is one of the most common malignant neoplasms in the world. Early detection and treatment of potentially malignant lesions (PML) have preventive potential in relation to OSCC. One of the most common OLP is oral leukoplakia (OPL), which has a rate of malignant transformation related to its clinical form and the presence or absence of epithelial dysplasia. To date, there is no evidence that any treatment for OPL prevents the progression of oral cancer. The objectives of this study will be: to analyze the liver and kidney functions in a preclinical model under the effect of the carcinogen 4-NQO, mentioned in the literature, verify whether treatments with artemisinin and/or Rubus occidentalis extract (BRB) in the preclinical model are safe and do not cause liver and kidney damage. Material and methods: 96 male mice will receive water with 4-Nitroquinoline-oxide (4-NQO) for 16 weeks. In the 8th week, after the detection of LPOs, the animals will be treated with a weekly subepithelial injection of artemisinin and/or by BRB 5% via gavage. In the 12th, and 16th weeks, the animals will be euthanized, and the liver and kidney will be collected for routine histological analysis. Appropriate statistical tests will be used with ±=0.05.(AU)
