Abstract

The goal of this project is to study some aspects of what it is known as social ontology from the perspective of the theory of illocutionary acts, especially the one following the tradition initiated by Austin (1962) and Searle (1969). More precisely, we will start by analyzing the notion of institutional facts (as the name suggests, it grounds the legal, political, and economical institutions) and the main theoretical ingredients needed for its understanding (performative, collective intentionality, and constitutive rules). The study will be focused on two seminal studies by Searle (1995, 2007) and on the bibliography presenting alternatives to his views. (AU)
