Abstract

The activities of the student will be together with the post-doc studentsof the BECOOL project, helping the necessary functions.All activities are related to marine invertebrates that will be collected from whale bones and wooden blocks. The student will participate in the field sampling. In addition,he will sort and identify the animals until the lowest taxonomic level possible, by using specific identification keys for each group.The student will also make slides of morphological structures of the individualscollected, whenever possible, for observation under an optical microscope, facilitating theidentification. During these activities, the student will participate in the dynamics of the Deep SeaLaboratory, learning to carry out bibliographic reviews and write scientific texts, fulfilling the main objectives of a Scientific Initiation Scholarship.
