Abstract

The objective of the project is to study spectra of solar twin stars in order to identify and analyze spectroscopic chemical signatures of planetary material. We will extend the sample of solar twins which were previously analyzed with high precision, to better characterize how rare the chemical composition of the Sun is and to study the evolution of chemical abundances in the Galactic disk, using a better quality dataset than in previous works. The study is important because it makes the relationship between the abundance of chemical elements present in the star and the existence of planets around it clearer, and may contribute, in the future, to the understanding of the formation of planetary systems similar to the Solar System. As the ages of our sample can be obtained with high precision, as a by-product we will establish the chemical evolution of the Galaxy as a function of stellar age.
