Abstract

Menopause is an important phase in the lives of women, especially those in the job market. Work involves aspects that affect the quality of life, sleep, performance, and well-being in general. Therefore, the diversity of demands can cause work overload, in addition to the high requirements for qualification and production, which are characteristic conditions of teaching work, which can compromise the physical and mental health of this professional category. Objective: to evaluate psychosocial aspects, daytime sleepiness, and quality of life in University female professors of Brazilian public education and to identify associations of these outcomes with menopause. Methods: this is a cross-sectional study of data obtained at baseline from a cohort called RESPIRA. Data will be collected through an online form on the Google Forms platform from June 1, 2022, to June 1, 2023. This form consists of a sociodemographic, occupational, and health questionnaire; Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II-Br; Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and WHOQOL-bref. The sample will be composed of university female professors from any region of the country who are working in public institutions of higher education with a work contract of 40 hours per week on a full-time basis. Data analysis will be performed with the help of the statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), through descriptive and regression analysis. Expected results: It is expected that menopausal teachers present higher psychosocial risk, daytime sleepiness, and lower quality of life compared to non-menopausal women.(AU)
