The overarching goal of the project is to design a prototype quantum thermometer demonstrating sensing capabilities beyond classical limits and paving the way to the construction of a device integrating quantum heat managers and thermal quantum sensor networks for effective monitoring, control and management of temperatures in whole panorama of nascent quantum technology applications. This project has been planned to develop on the expertise available in Belfast and São Carlos and carry it to fruition through a joint initiative channelling emerging quantum sensing technology, which is a high priority subject in the international landscape. The project addresses it in the most suitable opportunity window to enter quantum technologies, which is quantum metrology. Quantum thermometers can refine existing nano-thermometry applications, increase production quality in a wide range of industries - from biotech to advanced material manufacturing - and integrate any quantum computation, communication, or metrology technology. Queen's University Belfast's long tradition of interaction with firms working in biomedicine and material science can boost the impact of our project. (AU)
