Abstract

In this project we propose the optimization of exfoliation routes to produce high-quality 2Dcompounds of the MXenes family. These materials have been proved interesting for severalapplication including Energy conversion and storage. The properties of interest are largelydependent on their structural features (number of stacked lamellae, surface area, pointdefects, and so on), chemical compositions and surface terminations, beyond other relevantaspects. Therefore, the protocols adopted for exfoliation and delamination of the parent MAXphase largely influences the properties of the resulting MXene. In this research, the synthesisprotocols to produce Nb2CTx MXene from the Nb2SnC MAX phase will be investigated sincethe recent literature have reported that the production of Sn-free MXene is quite challenging.Moreover, the obtained Nb2CTx MXene will be tested as supercapacitors' electrodes. Thisresearch project for scientific initiation integrates the Thematic Project "Electrocatalysis VI: fundamental and applied aspects of emerging and classical problems in electrochemical energyconversion" (Grant number:19/22183-6)
