Abstract

In this project we will perform a feasibility study of using the IBAD (ions beam assisted deposition) technique to implant 18-O and 22-Ne gaseous elements in thin films. The main objective is to implant as many gaseous atoms as possible in thin films so that they can be used as targets in nuclear reactions. These targets will be tested in an elastic scattering experiment. If these targets demonstrate good homogeneity and good areal density, they will be used in more elaborate experiments on nuclear spectroscopy studies of interest to astrophysics.
