Abstract

The present work aims to remedy the lack in the literature regarding the optical behavior of the extrinsic characterization layer of a lithium silicate ceramic with zirconia (Celtra Duo). So, Celtra Duo ceramic blocks will be cylindrical in dimensions 12 mm and cut in a precision cutting machine in 1.2 mm, with the samples having final dimensions of 12 x 1.2 mm. Then, the specimens will be polished with sandpaper of granulations (400, 600, 800, 1200 #). All specimens will be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner and stored in an incubator, then randomly divided into three groups: SQ: without crystallization firing; CQ: with crystallization firing; CQC: with characterization firing (makeup and glaze). Subsequently, the optical criteria will be analyzed: the color and translucency evaluations will be performed by spectrophotometer, and the brightness will be measured by the meter with a square measurement area of 15 × 10 mm and a geometry of 60 ° to determine the values. In addition, the average surface roughness will be measured with three measurements by contact roughness meter. The compiled data will be subjected to the statistical analysis that best matches.
