Abstract

The research internship abroad aims to investigate aspects of Cesare Brandi's (1906-1988) theoretical and practical production that are still little studied, especially in Brazil. Based on a detailed study of selected writings by the author dedicated to the treatment of historic cities, we intend to analyze the reverberation of Brandian thought in two directions: i) the treatment of restoration actions in their urban dimension; and ii) and the concept of restoration in relation to the philosophy of art, with roots in the aesthetic discipline and the phenomenology of perception. The relations between aesthetic experience and urban memory in Cesare Brandi's theoretical-practical production paved the way for the recognition of the values of preexisting buildings in their formal and aesthetic aspects, an issue widely addressed throughout the author's trajectory. Among the different possibilities of approaching Cesare Brandi's extensive theoretical production, we propose to study, from the two axes highlighted above, the reverberation of his epistemological posture in the way of apprehending and describing the architectures and the built spaces, as well as the unfolding of this thought. in the treatment of historic cities (AU)
