Abstract

This qualitative and exploratory study aims to understand the experiences and perspectives of adolescents (aged 12 to 18 years old) cis and/or transmasculine school girls who menstruate about menstrual dignity. Since access to menstrual management materials is an important social and political marker, being relevant in the healthy development of the individual, menstrual dignity is also inferred as a basic right that should be extended to all people, in order to include social equity and sexual and reproductive justice in the analysis. Understanding how menstrual dignity is inserted in the school environment and its social impacts is relevant for the promotion of collective health and the development of public policies. Moreover, the work is developed from the development of two questionnaires; one of socioeconomic content, and the other semi-structured for the analysis and exploration about menstruation, using the technique of sampling by saturation, an important tool for qualitative research in health. This study is expected to give voice to these menstruating individuals, so that their experiences may serve as subsidy for the implementation of projects and actions aimed at menstrual health, besides contributing to the generation of new academic works.
