Abstract

The present study aims to verify which conceptions of education can be investigated in records of practices mobilized in the dance area in Brazil. The source elected for the analysis is the documentary series Figuras da Dança, which holds testimonials of 37 significant figures in the history of this artistic area in Brazil; more specifically, it is a question of ascertaining what these protagonists thought about their pedagogical action: What ideas proposed, what values they intended to disseminate, in sum, what their legacy educational. To this end, the study operates an interlocution with the thought of Michel Foucault,with a view to investigate into how dance is inscribed in the processes of veridiction/subjectivation in the recent history of the country.
