Abstract

Cachexia is defined as a multifactorial syndrome characterized by the continuous loss of skeletal muscle mass (with or without loss of adipose tissue) that is not reversed by conventional nutritional support and leads to progressive functional impairment. The principal objective of this internship proposal is complementary to Brazilian research, where we evaluated the effects of cancer cachexia and its treatment with nanoparticles that carry chemotherapeutic agents associated with aerobic exercise. For this, we will carry out to realize the analysis of the tibialis anterior muscle through proteomic and RNA-seq techniques of cachectic animals and to find what parameters are downstream and/or upstream when compared with the control group.
