Abstract

It's estimated that about one in 100 children worldwide is included in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which is more frequently identified among male individuals. As it is a group of diverse conditions, its clinical manifestations are heterogeneous and the different therapeutic approaches remain under investigation. Applied Behavior Analysis has proved to be a promising strategy, especially in the field of social cognition, aiming at the best insertion of these individuals in different groups of society. Given the prevalence of the disorder and the need to promote evidence that indicates the best way to address it, ABA results must be evaluated. Thus, a systematic review of literature will be carried out to map, critically evaluate and synthesize the evidence on efficacy and safety of ABA in the management of patients with ASD. The protocol will be registered prospectively in PROSPERO database and Cochrane Handbook for Reviews of Interventions' recommendations will be followed for the planning and development of the review. The report will be written according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA 2020).
