Abstract

The present doctoral research project proposes discussions about the potential of communication regarding the promotion of social participation and confrontation of violence structures. It promotes intersections between peace communication, formulated in the context ofPeace Studies, and public communication. These practices will be based from the perspective of the UN 2030 Agenda, considering the hypothesis that communication permeates all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by themember countries. From a decolonial and Global South perspective, it is intended to discuss on the possibility of structuring a communication-oriented SDG through goals and concrete indicators that guide the responsible action of the media, starting from the premise that Communication is a potentially transformative process. Through interviews in depth with professionals in the area, participant observation and documental research, the project aims to promote reflections on global communication perspectives, with a focus on the South Global, aimed at monitoring actions and formulations from a critical and normative media, focused on confronting phenomena such as hate speech and misinformation.
