Abstract

Among the various areas of dentistry, endodontics is responsible for the treatment and repair of pulp and periapical tissues. Studies show that F18 bioglass is a biocompatible and inducing material of collagen, bone tissue and angiogenic formation, besides having antimicrobial potential, becoming a material with potential to be used as a repairman in different clinical conditions.Given the necessity to work with a consistent material for the sealing of dental perforations, the putty of F18 was developed. The aim of this study is to evaluate the biological behavior of F18 in the form of putty in furca perforation procedures, through the analysis of biocompatibility, biomineralization and the repair process, using H.E. stains, immunostaining for osteocalcin and picrosirius red (PSR).Thirty animals (n=10) will be used divided into the following groups: Control - Guta percha (GP), MTA Angelus (MTA) and F18 in putty form (F18). Furca perforations will be made in the 1st and 2nd. left upper molars. Then, one of the materials will be randomly used to seal the perforation and the teeth will be sealed with glass ionomer. After the period of 7 and 30 days, the animals will be euthanized and the maxilla removed and processed for histological analysis. Inflammation will be evaluated in tissue sections stained in H.E., biomineralization will be analyzed by immunosmarcation for osteocalcin and the repair process will be analyzed by analyzing collagen maturation in slides stained with PSR. The data will be analyzed by specific statistical tests, considering the significance level of 5% (p <0.05).
