Abstract

This research aims to study the current modalities of professional insertion of Brazilian intellectuals in foreign universities, both in the field of humanities and social sciences. Considering that the promotion of internationalization is increasingly important in the positioning of higher education institutions, our goal is to estimate the inequality of the exchanges between different countries. This task will be carried out by analyzing the specificities of the positions occupied by the few Brazilian professors recruited abroad, whose trajectories are different from the national pattern of circulation of postgraduates, which requires the return to the home country. Furthermore, if European universities are the ones that most receive researchers from Brazil in the humanities, it is important to measure and to qualify the hiring of Brazilians in these institutions. Therefore, based on interviews with Brazilian professors hired by European universities and the analysis of the archives of these university centers, we will investigate the conditions and types of professional integration in a foreign country, in order to understand the history of admissions and the models for the teaching career abroad.
