Abstract

Reconciling the demands of personal and professional life has become a constant challenge for many people around the world. Although this challenge is shared by men and women, traditional gender expectations can impact how they experience conflict and balance between different domains of their lives. Therefore, studies aimed at testing intervention programs for reconciling demands need to carefully consider differences in their effects according to participants' gender. Beyond this specific field of research, international research funding institutions have begun to require researchers to take gender issues into account at different stages of their studies, including the data analysis process. Such initiatives are extremely important not only for promoting equality at the social level but also for promoting academic excellence and economic improvements. Thus, this project has the following objectives: (1) To elaborate a data analysis plan on the effectiveness of a program focused on work-life balance, contemplating considerations on gender, and (2) To deepen the knowledge on how actions for social inclusion and equity gender issues are being implemented in teaching and research activities at European universities. To accomplish this aims, supervision meetings will be held with Professor Dr. Marisa Matias and her laboratory colleagues. In addition, the beneficiary will get involved in actions and research activities related to the RESET and UP Igualdade projects, as these are initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and work-life balance.
