Abstract

The use of bicycles as a means of transportation brings numerous benefits to society in many ways. For this reason, it is crucial to establish public policies that encourage its use. The financial incentive for cyclists, which exists in some countries where cycling is popular, is one of the current measures for this promotion. In 2016, the City of São Paulo approved a law for this policy to be implemented in the city. However, the program was never regulated. One of the reasons for this is the lack of studies that support it and help determine how it will be implemented. Therefore, in this project, we will use data science techniques to scientifically base the policy and define several characteristics of the program that are still open in order to support a decree that establishes it. The project will be carried out in collaboration with cycle mobility specialists and under the supervision of the City of São Paulo.
