Abstract

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is based on a physical, chemical and biological process, which occurs when a photosensitizer (PS) is activated by Laser or Led to destroy the target-cell. Studies in Endodontics of the effect of PDT with indocyanine green (IG) PS compared to curcumin (CC) PS in the adhesive interface between the resin cement and intraradicular dentin, as well as the identification and characterization of the chemical composition of the dentin substrate exposed to the respective PSs, are lacking. The aim of this in vitro study is to analyze the influence of PDT with PS-IG or PS-CC, associated or not to calcium hydroxide intracanal medication, on adhesive interface bond strength of glass-fiber posts and the chemical composition in different thirds of intraradicular dentin. The biomechanical preparation (BMP) and PDT will be performed. After the intracanal medication period of 14 days, the same will be removed and the root canals will be obturated and prepared for glass-fiber post luting process. Thus, it will be obtained slices of cervical, middle and apical thirds. The bond strength of resin cement will be measured by the push-out test. The fracture pattern will be qualified by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The identification of the chemical composition of the dentin substrate will be analyzed by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) (n=3). The data obtained will be subjected to the normality test and the means compared by specific statistical tests (±=0.05).
