Abstract

Prostate cancer is the second most diagnosed tumor among men, and despite the existence of periodic preventive exams, its incidence continues to grow due to aging of the population. Metabolomics therefore emerges as a useful tool for both clinically relevant research and precision medicine, and individual diagnosis involving comparisons between groups. In this project, a targeted metabolomics analysis of the extracellular medium of healthy and cancerous prostate cells will be performed using capillary electrophoresis with detection by ultraviolet radiation absorption, in order to compare the levels of nucleosides in both groups towards the comprehension of the disease development and proposal of potential diagnostic biomarkers.
