Abstract

The aim of the project is to evaluate the systolic function of the right ventricle from the Systolic Excursion of the Tricuspid Annular Plane (TAPSE) in animals under the effect of acepromazine. For this, 12 bitches from 1 to 5 years old, weighing between 5 and 20kg will be employed. The bitches will be evaluated echocardiographically in two moments, first at baseline, without the use of sedatives and at the moment acepromazine (MA), after sedation. As a form of analysis, measurements of the tricuspid annulus movement during systole will be carried out in the left parasternal window in the apical four-chamber view, using the M-mode of the echocardiogram to analyze whether there are interferences in the TAPSE values caused by acepromazine.
